The guy that pixel art thing is supposed to be.
I’m a game, narrative, and UI/UX designer based in Snohomish County, Washington, the United States. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Washington Bothell’s Interactive Media Design program in June of 2020.
I design games because I love games. I think the emotional responses games elicit are their hearts and souls, and I think everything from the mechanics to the visuals should be built around the experience you want your players to have. My experiences with games like Nier: Automata, LISA: The Painful RPG, and Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim have been some of my most treasured experiences, and I want to give others the kinds of moments I’ve had with the games I value most in my life.
In my spare time, I run Dungeons and Dragons for my friends, write creative fiction, and mess around with Garageband. However, what I do most in my spare time is play and study video games.
What did I just play? – Shin Megami Tensei IV
What kind of game was it? – Turn-Based RPG
Would I recommend it? – Yeah! It’s got a really engaging world, some of the best customization options I’ve ever seen in a turn-based RPG, and my absolute favorite turn-based combat system in video games. I’ve been diving into the Shin Megami Tensei series recently, and in terms of mechanics, this is a really good jumping-on point. The biggest problem with the game is that the hardest part of the game is the very beginning, and the game actually gets way easier after the first two bosses. However, it never stops being fun.
Where can you play it? – It should be on the 3DS eShop. They have all of the 3DS Shin Megami Tensei games and rereleases of at least most of the DS ones there.
